What I've been learning about recently is the Parable of the Talents and the pressing of our time.

What are some things that are useful with the time we've been given? 

Evangelism is one thing that the Bible says allows us to "bear fruit for eternal life".

"Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together."

John 4:36-37

Here on earth as well, we may sometimes doubt that we can actually be rewarded for things by God. "The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches, honor, and life".

Sometimes, we will face a decision to choose fear of the Lord (a term that is not often probably understood) but in my mind is related to the idea of an awe-filled view of God. It leads to respect for His authority. Maybe we would normally do something if we did not fear God, but if we do, we make choices based on that respect for Him. There is surely a reward for these moments!
